Ever since I was a little kid, I knew I wanted to be an artist in some capacity. Growing up, my interests have covered several different fields: studio art, fashion, design, and even writing. Regardless of the specific form, creating things has always been a large part of my identity.

When I got to high school and met my studio art teacher, Brice McCasland, I found so much meaning and inspiration in the idea of pursuing art as a career. That teacher, “Mac” as I called him, gave so much emphasis and excitement to traditional methods and processes of creating art. In studying these artists and their methods, I began to notice a beautiful cycle in art creation. These artists used natural materials around them to create work that connected themselves to the world around them.

With this series, “West”, I want to pay homage to that philosophy. It’s an elegant philosophy that allows me to work within the right amount of constraints. With those constraints, I’ve been given the direction to work with the natural images, stories, and materials that I know. It’s the stories that have been instilled in me since my childhood that are finally manifesting themselves on canvas.

I believe I was created to be creative. My goal is to make timeless work that can be passed down through family generations. Nature has and always will draw man to itself, so the natural elements and aesthetics in this series lend themselves to becoming great heirloom pieces for your collection.

Thanks for reading and being a part for this with me. I’m grateful to have you along for the journey in the creation of more pieces to come.

Always my best,
